It’s a fact our life has
changed in plenty of aspects: school, work, entertainment and social activities are not what they
used to be… not even the way we see things is the same….literally speaking!
Why? Because we spend most of our time staring at digital devices such as our
cellphones, I-Pads, tablets, computer screens or anything else that is a working-tool
and shines with *blue light.
How can we strengthen our eyes to build up a healthy
vision and relieve eye strain? Here are some yoga exercises which can help us
if we make them a part of our daily routine:
1. Eye palming: Rub your hands together until you feel you have produced
heat between your palms; then close your eyes and cup your palms over the eyes
without putting too much pressure on them. Let your eyes enjoy blackness. Breathe
profoundly and slowly and stay like
this as long as you need.
2. Blink! A good dose of blinking helps our eyes reduce tension
and increases circulation, so, once in a while look away from the screen and
blink for a minute to make your eyes feel relaxed and refreshed.
3. Strengthen all your eye
muscles: Picture a
clock right in front of you; raise your eyeballs up to 12 o’clock, without
moving your head or your neck. After a second, move them to 1 o’clock, then to 2
,and so forth until you get to 12 again. Then take your eyes back to center and
shut them. Repeat this exercise but
this time, do it counterclockwise.
4. Get up and
do exercise! Keeping our body in movement, helps to lower pressure in our
eyeballs. You will get a plus if you exercise outside, since a recent study has
shown that natural bright light reduces the risk of developing myopia.
Following these tips can help you relieve your eyes
from the nowadays strain they are exposed to. Believe me, they are worth
trying!
*The sun also emits blue light; the real problem with
blue light is the amount of time we are exposed to it (for more information go
